A screenshot often captures more than the issue you intended to show. A quick review before sharing can prevent private information from becoming part of a public guide or dispute.
Frame the problem
Include the relevant control, error or game area with enough surrounding context to understand it. For a multi-step problem, a short sequence of screenshots may be clearer than one crowded image. Keep the original privately if support may need additional context.
Check the edges
Review browser tabs, address bars, account names, chat windows, desktop notifications and background applications. Verification links and tokens can appear in a URL. A private base location may also be sensitive to the group using it.
Redact deliberately
Crop unrelated areas or cover sensitive information with an opaque block. Export the result as a new flattened image and reopen that exported file to check what is actually visible. Do not rely on a transparent highlight to conceal text.
Preserve the meaning
Redaction should remove irrelevant private details without changing the substance of the evidence. Explain when an image is cropped or annotated. Never edit a screenshot to invent an error, an admission or a conversation that did not happen.
Use the private reporting route for personal disputes. A public tutorial should contain only information that is appropriate for a broad audience.
